LMPS Swimming Gala Success
On Friday 24th November, a team of 16 children from Years 5 and 6 went to Queen Elizabeth’s school in Wimborne to compete at the year’s first swimming gala festival.
Despite tough competition from Allenbourn Middle School, Ferndown Middle School and St Michael’s Middle School, the LMPS team held their own and overall managed to place a very respectable second.
The afternoon consisted of relay races, including mixed boys and girls and mixed Year 5 and 6 events. Highlights included the Year 5 girls winning the freestyle race, the Year 6 girls placing second in their freestyle race, and the Year 6 mixed team coming second in the breaststroke race.
The event was a great introduction into how a swimming gala is conducted, and the expectations that are held of the competitors. The team showed fantastic spirit by cheering each other on, and overall they demonstrated great sportsmanship.
A huge thanks is owed to the parents and family members who made our attendance at the event possible, and to Mr Noyce and Miss Winkworth for accompanying the team.
We look forward to seeing what our students can achieve in the next swimming gala!
